It was slow as hell to render, and I turned on the performance column and realized that I needed to optimize a couple of the videos that were a horrible codec. For instance, a recent project I was working on was very basic text animation over some video backgrounds. I will say that the new performance monitoring, forget what it’s called, wher you can see what is giving you slow downs, is amazing and is very enlightening.

The integration into Resolve is great in theory, but they haven’t figured out how to get it to play well on the timeline. Performance in fusion is as bad or worse than AE, and nodes are great, but not for motion work.

Resolve and fusion have their own issues. In the same way that for a lot of people, Houdini is a supplement to Cinema 4d or other DCC. I think the workflow is old, the performance is dog slow, even now, but it’s literally all we have.Ĭavalry is coming up but it’s only 2d. I’ve been known to take a dump on AE on many occasions. I have no problem paying adobe, but I would like to get stable functional products, less bugs and less crashes, not more with every release. because of this I've started weening off most of the products, but AE seems to be the hardest, I've seen fusion and nuke but they don't seem to fit the bill, but I might only be guided by the marketing material and they could work, hence why I'm here. Sadly it seems that every year adobe products are more unstable, be it mac or PC, and they've probably helped my hair loss along with my genes. My favorite since I got the hang of it is after effects, and I've gotten pretty decent, currently using it for explainer videos, brand animations for social media and UI ideas for apps and digital products. I've used adobe products for the last 17 years and about to go for 10 professionally. I'm a visual designer that does everything from video games, to packaging design, UI/UX, web design, 3d Animation, poster illustrations and of course Motion graphics. This probably gets posted every week or even more, but I wanted to start looking for more software choices, a little background.
